Ginger & Pear Mocktail

Ginger & Pear Mocktail

Posted by Kylie Suich

Autumn in Melbourne and Pears are fresh in season.

This easy Mocktail pairs (like the pun) two of my favourite things, a crisp crunchy green pear with ginger beer.  I like how this is tangy and citrus in flavour, with natural sweetness.

Make the most of these seasons pairs, lightly skin them and blend with approx half a cup of water per pear until you get a fluid with a juice like consistency.  This juice will 'brown' quite quickly as the air hits the fruit, so add a touch of lemon juice if making a big batch to keep it fresh while storing to drink later.

If you want to make this Mocktail vegan, then swap the honey for rice malt syrup  - and when mixing up add as much ginger beer as you like until your tastebuds are happy with the drink.

What chocolate to enjoy it with - you could try a dark chocolate with ginger and a touch of spices, to emphasise the natural zing in this drink.  Or maybe a milk chocolate with honeycomb for a sweeter contrast, but I suggest only a little as it might end up being a bit sickly.

Enjoy, Kylie
